How to Divorce Your Job and Keep the House – 3

In part 2 of the #DivorceYourJob how-to series, we talked about direct sales.

4salepostit“But Ms. ME, I’m not a salesperson.” “I’m not pushy enough to be good at sales.”

Well first, you don’t have to be pushy to be in sales. Continue reading How to Divorce Your Job and Keep the House – 3

Clean Your Stinky Head Scarf…and other things – Part 1

I listen to the TJMS on the way to my day gig. I believe it was the week of December 12th (2011 when this was originally posted on my prior blog) I heard my fellow, native South Carolinian J Anthony Brown improvising a blues song about women needing to wash their head scarves because it was making the back of their heads stink.

*Update: Try as I might I couldn’t find an audio clip online. If anyone happens to find one please leave a link in the comments. Thanks ❀

It got me thinking that’s not the only thing that probably goes uncleaned for far longer than it should.Β  Here’s my quick list of beauty care and other items that perhaps go overlooked but should be cleaned at least weekly:

  • Nightly head scarf (of course)
  • Combs
  • Brushes
  • Makeup brushes and sponges
  • Nail clippers
  • Tweezers
  • Glasses (prescription or stylish shades)
  • Pillowcases
  • Β Cell phone (because unless you’re 100% hands-freeΒ ALLΒ the time, it will touch your face at some point)

More specifics on why it’s important (besides just being clean) and how to clean some of these items quickly and easily in future posts every other Wednesday!

Random beauty tips

I have been slacking on my blogging since Blogging 201 which is ironic for so many reasons.
Anywho…
In an attempt to resume some sort of routine here are a few random beauty tips.

1) Lip color is like your Amex, don’t leave home without it. With a good one you can create an entire look in a rush.

2) Having reliable and appropriately sized foundation garments are key to any style. Ladies, one must always manage their property well.

And last but certainly not least

3) About the only thing better for your looks than great nutrition is getting enough sleep which this miss is about to do now.

Get Fit and Make Money – A DYJKTH Interview

If you’ve been reading theΒ Divorce Your Job & Keep the House series, you know we’re still on the topic of sales as an extra revenue stream. Below is an interview with Khalif Croom, who’s side gig is fitness related.

Ms. ME: What’s your new business endeavor about?

Khalif Croom: I’m an Executive Promoter for Body by Vi from Visalus. We offer a protein-enriched meal replacements, cereal, and cookies. We also help fight obesity in the community.

Ms. ME: Tell me more about these meal replacements.

KC: There is a protein drink for after you workout. It has more vitamins per serving than other products on the market.

Ms. ME: What if I don’t workout regularly or at all? Would the product still help me?

KC: Yes, it still works as a meal replacement and vitamin supplement, giving the body all the vitamins it needs.

Ms. ME: Ok, so how do you all fix obesity in the community?

KC: For everyone who uses the product and shows a before & after picture of losing 10 pounds in 90 days, Project Kids sends 30 healthy meals to charities to aid in fighting obesity.

Ms. ME: So how can people contact you to get the products?

KC: They can visit my website khalifcroom.myvi.net.

Ms. ME: And for my readers who are looking for an extra revenue stream, how can they find out more about Visalus and joining your team?

KC: They can view the presentations at overview.vi.com.

The next DYJKTH post (coming soon) will have more tips for sales.
