Aloha Summer

September is National Self-Improvement month here in the states. It’s also the month where the northern hemisphere has to say “Aloha” to summer.

goodbye summer

I spent a lot of my summer working on self-improvement, from volunteer work to finally adding some credentials to my degree in the form of my insurance  & annuities license to become a financial advisor with WFG.

My self-improvement continues this month with me returning to some routines abandoned over the summer (and years). Here’s the short list:

  1. drinking lots of water daily (want my glowing skin back)
  2. eating healthy (taking vitamins to fill in the gaps hasn’t been cutting it lately)
  3. exercising daily; it was the summer after all but follow Ms_ME on Fitocracy and I’ll follow back
  4. following my personal budget (busy making budgets for others necessitates that I’m actually following mine)
  5. and of course  my blogging schedule

What will improvements will you make this month?

Relaxation Day

Relaxation Day is a day to kick back and do nothing. Ahhhh! What a great day.

The stresses, the hustle and bustle seemingly consumes us, every day of the year. Even Sundays are no longer days of rest and relaxation. There never seems to be a day to just kick back and relax.  For those us with a hectic lifestyle, Relaxation Day is a day to look forward to. It provides a break from the madness of your busy work and personal schedule. Todays is the day to enjoy either doing absolutely nothing, or partaking in your favorite relaxation activity.

Avoiding stressful activities today is the rule. For example, if golf is your favorite hobby, yet it can cause you stress, then make plans to play golf another day. Spending the day in a hammock is a far more appropriate activity.

Top Ten ideas to enjoy on Relaxation Day:

  • Do nothing today
  • Go to a Spa
  • Go fishing
  • Play a round of golf(caution: not always relaxing)
  • Lounge around in a hammock
  • Take a bubble bath
  • Spend the day at the beach
  • Go to the movies
  • Do a little gardening (no heavy duty work, though)
  • Have a picnic in the park

Get Fit and Make Money – A DYJKTH Interview

If you’ve been reading the Divorce Your Job & Keep the House series, you know we’re still on the topic of sales as an extra revenue stream. Below is an interview with Khalif Croom, who’s side gig is fitness related.

Ms. ME: What’s your new business endeavor about?

Khalif Croom: I’m an Executive Promoter for Body by Vi from Visalus. We offer a protein-enriched meal replacements, cereal, and cookies. We also help fight obesity in the community.

Ms. ME: Tell me more about these meal replacements.

KC: There is a protein drink for after you workout. It has more vitamins per serving than other products on the market.

Ms. ME: What if I don’t workout regularly or at all? Would the product still help me?

KC: Yes, it still works as a meal replacement and vitamin supplement, giving the body all the vitamins it needs.

Ms. ME: Ok, so how do you all fix obesity in the community?

KC: For everyone who uses the product and shows a before & after picture of losing 10 pounds in 90 days, Project Kids sends 30 healthy meals to charities to aid in fighting obesity.

Ms. ME: So how can people contact you to get the products?

KC: They can visit my website khalifcroom.myvi.net.

Ms. ME: And for my readers who are looking for an extra revenue stream, how can they find out more about Visalus and joining your team?

KC: They can view the presentations at overview.vi.com.

The next DYJKTH post (coming soon) will have more tips for sales.

National stress awareness day

Today is National Stress Awareness day. When I was thinking of things that relieve stress the first thing that came to mind was getting a massage.  It releases all of the built up physical tension in your muscles while giving you time to mentally decompress. If you’re religious or spiritual, you may share the sentiment in the photo. My friend Jessica said that when she gets stressed she works out, which is another great way to handle stress. Exercise releases feel good chemicals called endorphins. These endorphins are natural stress fighters. The hardest part sometimes is convincing yourself to get off the couch or stop the countless activities that may preoccupy you to actually exercise. But it’s definitely worth the effort if you want to relieve your stress. Share what you do to relieve stress. If you’re a Jacksonville, FL resident you may win a gift certificate for a massage at Massage by Bobbilee.

A randomly selected comment will be selected for the gift certificate by April 30, 2014. If the randomly selected comment did not originate with a resident of Jacksonville, FL, subsequent random comments will be chosen until a local is awarded the certificate.
